Bugahyeon-dong, nestled between two expansive apartment complexes spanning a total surface area of 328m², faces a distinctive challenge at the end of its site -- and impasse created by a ground railway situated between two tunnels. This peculiar setting transforms the area into a dead end. Despite this, the location boasts a remarkable landscape owing to its elevated position.
The site characterized by a dichotomy of redevelopment zones and undeveloped areas, distinctly separated by the presence of ground railways. The intricate topography of the ground railway site intertwines with its surroundings, rendering subterranean development impractical. Complicating matters further, the conservation of the two tunnels within this space is imperative due to their historical significance as the first pair of tunnels in Korea.
In response to these challenges, I propose a visionary park design aimed at revitalizing this abandoned space and seamlessly connecting the two apartment complexes. By amalgamating various elements within this area, the design seeks to breathe new life into this neglected space, offering a refreshing and harmonious addition to Bugahyeon-dong.
